Our Values

Community Care
We believe healing and wellness happen in relationship—with ourselves, each other, and the land. We center mutual support, collective action, and reciprocal care in all that we do.

Cultural Rootedness
Our work is grounded in ancestral wisdom, honoring Black, Indigenous, and global healing traditions. We uplift practices that reflect the lived experiences and strengths of our communities.

Equity + Access
We are committed to dismantling barriers in perinatal care and wellness. Through scholarships, sliding scale offerings, and inclusive programming, we strive to make support accessible to all.

Reproductive Justice
We uphold the right of every person to make informed choices about their body, family, and future. Our care is gender-affirming, trauma-informed, and based in shared decision-making.

Representation Matters
We celebrate the power of being seen. We intentionally uplift Black, Brown, LGBTQIA2+, and other marginalized voices in our collective, our care, and our community events.

Joy + Rest as Resistance
We honor joy, creativity, and rest as vital to liberation and wellness. Our offerings are built to nourish the whole self—body, mind, and spirit.

Sacred Birthwork
We honor pregnancy, birth, and parenting as sacred journeys. We hold space with reverence, compassion, and deep respect for every family’s story

FAQs

What are the benefits of working with a provider through Sweetgrass Wellness Collective (SGWC)?

When you choose support through SGWC, you’re not only receiving personalized, culturally-rooted care—you’re also giving back. A portion of your fee goes directly into our community fund, which supports birth support scholarships, emergency food & diaper assistance, and helps us keep our classes accessible to all.

Anyone can secure support through us. Whether you're looking for full-spectrum care, a one-time consult, or community resources, we’re here to walk with you on your journey.

What’s the difference between a doula and a midwife?

A midwife provides clinical care throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum—including monitoring the baby’s heart rate, checking vitals, and “catching the baby.” A doula offers emotional, physical, and informational support—like helping with comfort measures, advocacy, and navigating decisions. Both play important roles and often work together!

When should I take a childbirth or lactation education class?

We recommend starting your CBE class around 28–32 weeks pregnant, so you have time to practice tools and ask questions. Earlier is totally fine too—especially if you're a planner!

Around the beginning of your third trimester is a great time for lactation education. Learning about latch, feeding cues, and what’s normal before baby arrives helps you feel more confident and supported.

Can I have both a midwife and a doula?

Absolutely! Many families choose to work with both. They complement each other beautifully—midwives focus on clinical care, while doulas focus on emotional and physical support.

Am I a candidate for homebirth?

Homebirth is a safe option for many low-risk pregnancies. During your consultation, a midwife will review your health history, current pregnancy, and preferences to help you determine whether homebirth is the right fit for you and your family.

What if I’m not sure what I need yet?

That’s okay! Reach out with any questions—we’re happy to help you explore your options, share info, and guide you toward support that fits your unique journey.

Let us help you find care that's right for you.
